Finnish cleantech company MetGen has won EU’s Innovation Radar Prize 2021

MetGen Oy, a cleantech company hailing from Kaarina, Finland, has been awarded EU’s Innovation Prize of 2021, handed by European Commission each year. The solution by the company now awarded replaces petrochemical components with bio-based ones in fiber-based packaking, thus ensuring higher recycling rate. The solution also preserves the strength and moisture-resistance of the packaging.

The overal winner was chosen among 12 European finalists, and as the receipient of the prize MetGen is granted with EUR 13.3 million from the EU Horizon 2020 -initiative to further develop innovative packaging solutions.

The Innovation Radar is the European Commission’s initiative to make it easier to discover innovations emerging from research and innovation projects financed by the EU under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, the world’s largest public funded research programmes.

Tesi made the first investment in MetGen in 2012, on the basis of the company’s bio-based solutions that save resources and costs.
